Types of Braces
Since Dr. YOUR NAME is not exclusively associated with any particular producer of orthodontic products, he can independently select the best supplies from each manufacturer. With this freedom, Dr. YOUR NAME can suggest several brands of braces to fit your precise needs.
Traditional Metal Braces
These are what nearly all people picture when they think of braces. 
In recent years, there have been considerable technological improvements in these kinds of braces that have reduced their size and thickness offering increased comfort and better hygiene.
Great news! Recently, multiple independent research papers have demonstrated that traditional braces perform just as well as other types of braces. In addition to working just as well, they cost considerably less and permit you the fun option of adding colors to your brackets that can be changed at each appointment. You can cheer for your school team one month and get colors to coordinate with every holiday!
Clear Braces
For those who don’t want the look of traditional braces, we offer clear (ceramic) brackets. They are just as effective as conventional brackets, but are much less noticeable. Many celebrities, including Dakota Fanning, have chosen ceramic brackets for their orthodontic treatment.
Self-Ligating Brackets (Damon System, In-Ovation, Smart Clip, Time3, Speed, Vision LP)
Option 1: Unlike traditional brackets, self-ligating braces have a built-in mechanism to hold the wire in position. Since elastic ties are not used, you cannot choose different colors with these brackets. 
Years ago, it was thought that self-ligating braces provided less discomfort and shorter treatment times (less time in braces). Unfortunately, more recent research has shown this to NOT be true. While self-ligating brackets continue to be used by many orthodontists for a variety of reasons, research has revealed that they work no better or worse than conventional brackets.
Option 2: Dr. YOUR NAME is proud to offer the Damon System of self-ligating brackets. Unlike traditional braces, self-ligating braces have a built-in mechanism to hold the wire in position. By avoiding the use of elastic (color) ties to hold the wires in place, friction is significantly reduced. This reduced friction allows teeth to align more quickly and with less discomfort than traditional brackets. The Damon System’s efficiency also means less office visits are required.
